Gold of Bunikasih

Bunikasih is a small town that located about 10 kms from Pangalengan, South Bandung. This beautiful area lies in a tea plantation, more than 1500 m above sealevel, and has many wonderfull scenery to south. 

Not far from this small town, there is a small traditional gold mining, about 2 kilometers far and could be reached by foot not more than one hour. 

Administratively, there is no official name for this gold mining area, but still apart of Mekarmukti village, Talegong distric, Garut regency. Eventhough included in Garut regency, the best access to reach this area is from Bunikasih, Pangalengan, Bandung regency, so that called as Bunikasih traditional gold mining area.

This gold mining area had been observed by a geologist and lecturer from ITB, Andri Subandriyo, that held a research of epithermal gold deposit in 1995. The news of this gold deposit discovery heard by occupants surrounded and the other traditional miners soon, so the silent Cibaliung river canyon, crowded by many newcomers.
